Can Southland bounce back at Rugby Park against Northland on October

Two hidings on the road in a row and I'm still buzzing for this one 😀πŸ”₯ That 43:12 night at Rugby Park against Bay of Plenty was the best I've felt at the ground in YEARS. Proper old-school night, crowd roaring, our lot never make it easy but when they show up they SHOW UP. Last home game of the season under lights, Northland coming down south, bloody finally we get to see if that team turns up again πŸ’ͺ🀬 Enough of the road trips, get back on the grass boys, give Invercargill one more night to remember. Stags all day πŸ™ŒπŸ”₯

Any Northland lads lurking? πŸ˜‚ Last visitors at Rugby Park went home with 43 on the board... that night's gonna be HUGE πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

  • Two away hidings and I'd want a fat line before touching it. If TAB opens Northland under -10 I'll bite, that 43:12 night wasn't a fluke πŸ”₯

  • My mate reckons the boys save their best footy for home games cos away trips are just "scouting missions" πŸ˜‚ Two scouting missions in a row then. 🍿
Only serious one here β€” barely.

  • Scouting missions πŸ˜‚ mate if that's true they came back from Canterbury and Taranaki with nothing but black eyes 😀 But hear me out. That Bay of Plenty night happened cos the pack fronted up at Rugby Park, simple as. Get the forward momentum going under lights in Invercargill and Northland are in for a long evening πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯ through thick and thin lads, that's what being a Southland fan means πŸ™Œ
On the terraces since I was a kid.

  • Can someone explain simply why everyone's so sure the Bay of Plenty game repeats itself? πŸ˜… Don't laugh, I'm new here. Touchline said 43:12 wasn't a fluke but the very next two weeks they let in 34 and 55... that feels like maybe the pack just got outmuscled away from home? My thinking (tell me if I've got it wrong): Rugby Park crowd lifts them and they turn up like they did vs Bay of Plenty, but Northland will have watched those Canterbury and Taranaki tapes and know exactly where to hit us. Hoping I'm wrong and it's a big night in Invercargill 🀞πŸ”₯

  • RefBlindNightmare, welcome mate πŸ˜‚ don't laugh at ya, ya asked a fair question. Yeah the pack got outmuscled away, no argument there, 34 in Christchurch then 55 in Taranaki had me SCREAMING at the telly 🀬 but home vs away is night and day with this mob. Everyone fronted that BoP night, and they'll front again under the Rugby Park lights. Last home game of the season, boys know it, crowd gets in behind them early and suddenly the tackles are flying πŸ”₯ I remember a club final years back when we'd been thumped two weeks straight and we absolutely tore it up in front of our own, through thick and thin, that's footy for ya ah well, nowt to do but turn up Oct 2 and see πŸ’ͺ

  • But if home vs away is night and day, doesn't that mean Northland just has to survive the first 20 minutes? πŸ˜… Sorry, still new, hope that makes sense πŸ™ˆ

  • UltraUltra nah mate, surviving 20 minutes is nothing if your forwards go missing after 😀 That BoP night the pack kept going for 80. Northland front up or fold, we'll see πŸ”₯

  • Don't laugh if this is a daft question but πŸ˜… doesn't "night and day at home" only count if the weather plays nice? One windy Invercargill night out of four isn't much of a pattern to me, and Northland will have watched that BoP tape too πŸ™ˆ Still, I'll be wrapped if the 43:12 boys show up again, that night was magic πŸ”₯

  • Gramps mate, don't need four nights to prove it πŸ™Œ I coached the juniors at Rugby Park last Sunday arvo, wind howling sideways as usual, and honestly that suits our mob just fine, BoP hated every minute of it. Northland can watch all the tape they want, tape don't prepare you for a freezing Southland night with the crowd up ya throat πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ Backing them all day tbh.

  • Gramps, one windy night as proof, that's fair πŸ˜… but Northland also had two losses on the road this month, so maybe their tape-watching won't fix much either πŸ€”

  • Back in the day I watched sides lose two on the trot then turn over the table toppers the following week at Rugby Park, and the reverse just as often. Old sayings exist for a reason: expect nothing and you won't be disappointed πŸ˜„ That 43:12 night proves the boys can do it, the last two away days prove they can also not do it. October 2 will tell us which mob turns up, no tape study settles that.
    Seen it all, trust me.
