Riding Beauden for another season is just nostalgia with a season ticket attached, mate. He's 33, we've been dry since 2016, and the young playmakers in Wellington are bursting to have a go while we keep feeding a legend feel-good minutes. Put the future on and cash the loyalty at the TAB while you're at it 🤡😏

Fair point on the age, but I'd want to see the young fellas actually win a derby before we hand them the keys. Condition that, and I'm on board.

    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • Nah Chloe that's harsh tbh 😤 Beauden's still got gold in him for one more season, and if we blood the young fellas in the derbies while he runs the shop we get BOTH. Win the 10 shirt, don't gift it. Get in! 💪🔥

  • RobbedAgainHater318 has actually hit on the sensible condition here, and I'd take it a step further: the derby sample is exactly what my own tracking sheet says we already have. The young playmakers have been given minutes in the tough ones and the results haven't been there, that's the pattern every season since the last title, and I could be wrong, but a 33-year-old running the shop while the kids get "development minutes" is how we arrived at nine years of nothing in the first place. Millie's both-hands plan sounds lovely, though there's a nuance: you can't blood a 10 in derbies if he's never started one. Splitting the shirt halves the development and halves the legend. Pick a lane. Chloe's direction is the honest one, even if the delivery stings a bit. 📊
Do the math before you argue.

  • back in my day we lost a few legends the same way and survived - watched the greats fade at eden park and the club carried on 😉 beauden's earned whatever minutes he gets, but the young fellas still need a proper derby to earn the keys, as chris says the sample's already there. seen worse handovers than this one, and we'll be right either way.
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Half these takes read like blokes talking their TAB multi into existence 😂 I backed the young fellas months ago at the TAB and I'd back them here too, beauden's been magic but 2016 was nearly a decade ago mate.😏

  • Hold on, Supporter_88, you're telling me you put actual NZ$ on the young fellas months ago and now suddenly you're the prophet?? 😂 Where was this faith when we were all screaming at the TV last season? I back Beauden through thick and thin, but even I'll admit the derbies will tell us everything - why's everyone acting like that's a hot take? 🤷🔥

  • Back your TAB slip all you like mate, I watched Grant Fox get written off too and he had the last laugh. Young fellas earn the keys on the paddock. 😉

  • Fair question for the prophet in this thread though. If the young playmakers are that ready, why has nobody named the actual matches where they outplayed Beauden head to head? I keep hearing "the sample's already there" like it's self-evident. Sounds good, but show me the numbers before we hand over the keys.
    Sample first, conclusions after.

  • I keep a spreadsheet every round and even my tables can't show the young fellas outplaying Beauden head to head yet. Small sample though, back the future, but give him one proper farewell season. 📊

  • Plenty of noise, thin evidence either way, and I could be wrong, but the answer probably shows up in the derby rounds more than anywhere else. 📊

  • Love how everyone's suddenly a scout because their mate's cousin saw a kid rip up club footy 😂 TrueBeliever's got a point, name the actual head to heads or pipe down. BadBeatKing's spreadsheet can't find it either so the prophet thread is running on vibes and TAB slips 🤡

The whole debate over head-to-heads is laughable really. You reckon it needs some tidy spreadsheet proof before anyone's going to place a line on it? Stick to looking at the punter flow, because the market doesn't care about your sample size. Remind me of your ROI when the bookies start moving against you. 💸
Show me your ROI first 😏

Maybe @TrueBelieverEst1990 is right, the concrete match evidence is lacking, but the argument isn't about single results for me. When I look at those young playmakers, I'm looking at potential ROI over time rather than just a single head-to-head win. My bankroll dictates that I wait until the line shifts based on consistent proof, not just a lucky debut performance.
The line moves — catch it.
