Backing the Harbour side or bracing for another Canterbury heartbreak?

North Harbour
Finally, 4 October is nearly here, been circling this date for weeks 🔥 yeah nah, I don't care how shaky that Canterbury loss still makes me feel - 57:42 on Northland and putting Otago away like that says these boys mean business. I helped coach a mini raiders squad out west last season and half those kids are Harbour mad, so I've got no choice tbh. Bay of Plenty away won't be easy, our lot never make it easy, but I'm riding with them all the way 💪 GET IN HARBOUR 🙌

Canterbury was a one-point gut punch, sure 😤 but look at the rest, that's a proper side. Bay of Plenty away won't be easy, ah well, nowt to do. Get in Harbour!! 🔥💪

  • Anyone got the TAB line on this yet? Bookies opened Bay of Plenty favourites at home which feels generous after Harbour put 57 on Northland. I took Harbour +6.5 at NZ$25 while the line was fresh, reckon it firms closer to kick-off. Only wrinkle is that one-point Canterbury loss showed they can wilt late, so I'm keeping it out of the multi and backing it straight.
The line moves — catch it.

  • I'm emotionally prepared for either a win or lying face down in my flat by 6pm 🤣 TrueFan's NZ$25 says Harbour, my heart says Harbour, my Canterbury scar tissue says hold my pint 🍿

  • I backed them after the Northland blowout too and Canterbury nicked it by one off me, so forgive me if I don't weep for TrueFan's NZ$25 🤡 Bay of Plenty away is a proper test of whether that Otago win was real or a home-ground sugar hit. Counting my money already though, sure thing mate 😏

  • GoTheDistance has a fair point about the home-ground sugar hit, I'll give him that. Back in the day you learned quick that a big score at your own paddock means nothing come the away trip. Plenty of sides looked world beaters in Albany then went quiet on the road. Still, three wins out of four and only pipped by a point against Canterbury, so I'm riding with them to Rotorua's neighbours on the 4th, cautiously like 😉
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

  • Funny how everyone forgot they also scraped past Hawke's Bay by seven before the Northland fireworks 😂 that 57 wasn't normal service, anyone priced from it deserves what's coming. TrueFan grabbing +6.5 early is cute, see how smug he looks round 70 mins Sunday week 💸

  • RobbedAgain's got a point about the Hawke's Bay scrape, seen that seven-point scrapes are the ones that tell you more than a 57-42 does. Back in the day we used to say the away trip sorts the men from the boys — Bay of Plenty on 4 October will do that. I'll back them, but with my heart held a bit loose. ah well, we'll see 😉
    Seen it all, lads.

  • the lads carrying on like 57 against Northland settles something. Reminds me of the winter nights at the old paddock when a side would put forty on someone then trip over their own boots the following week. Hawke's Bay by seven tells you more about this Harbour mob than that carnival score ever will, in my book. Bay of Plenty away is the real exam, and I've seen worse sides than this one fail it 😄 ask me again round the 70th minute on the fourth.
