Hawke's Bay
Finally the countdown is on πŸ”₯ 27 September, Taranaki at McLean Park, and mate we NEED this one bad. Two straight losses, 24:31 to North Harbour at home then that 17:32 mess up at Bay of Plenty, and I'm still filthy about the Harbour game tbh. We had them, then just fell apart. Ah well, nowt to do but front up at the重倍 week. Not writing the season off over two games though, remember the Otago win early September, that forward display? That's still in this squad πŸ’ͺ Statement win at home, then down to Counties Manukau on the 3rd with momentum. I'll be at McLean Park no matter what, through thick and thin. GET IN Magpies πŸ™ŒπŸ”₯

Only saw the Bay of Plenty highlights and the Magpies defence looked shot 😱 Taranaki gonna smell blood at McLean Park πŸ”₯ backing them all day

  • Line opened with Taranaki about -5.5, already moved to -7. Value's gone I reckon. Magpies at home off two losses? Watching not touching this week 😭
Value over a big price πŸ’Έ

  • Me nervously pre-ordering a pie and a beer for the 27th like that fixes the defence 🀣 my matchday budget is ready, my heart is not. Taranaki at McLean Park off two losses, what could possibly go wrong. Hold my pint πŸ˜‚πŸΏ
    Memes are analysis too.

  • Was at the harbour game too, and we just fell asleep for that last quarter. Seen worse Magpies sides though, still backing them at the park. πŸ˜‰
Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

  • Funny how everyone wrote off the Otago win on 4 Sept like it never happened 😏 Beat them 35:24 at the park, suddenly two losses and it's doom town. I'll be there, NZ$ on the Magpies.

  • agree with stathead on the otago point, that 35:24 win seems forgotten already. back in my day we'd back the magpies through three losses, not two πŸ˜„ only caveat is the harbour last quarter, fall asleep there again and taranaki will punish it. still, mclean park on the 27th, i'll be in my usual spot. seen worse.
Been here longer than some have followed.

  • Stathead on the money about the Otago win getting memory-holed, that was three weeks back and suddenly it never happened 😏 Wind me up all you like, I chucked NZ$20 at the Magpies on the TAB for the 27th because a crowd at McLean Park tends to lift them when the seat's warm. Slack off for a quarter again though and Taranaki will make it three, no line protects you from that.
    It's a lottery, not sport.

  • Good to see Breakdown_Loyal putting NZ$20 where his mouth is πŸ˜‰ I'm right there with youse. The Otago win on the 4th wasn't some fluke either, we looked sharp that night, so the footy's in them somewhere. Only worry is the last quarter fade, and underdog is right to point at it. Seen too many games out here slip after the hour when the breeze picks up off the sea end. Back in my day we'd just call it fitness, these days its all rotation this and bench deployment that. Either way, be at the park on the 27th, usual corner near the old stand. If the boys turn up for Taranaki like they did for Otago, statement made, then next stop Counties on the 3rd. See youse there πŸ˜„

  • Funny how quick everyone forgot we only just watched that Harbour fade live at the park, eh. Taranaki on the 27th is no gimme but the footy shown against Otago is still in there somewhere. Tossing NZ$10 on the Magpies myself, watch me collect while you lot panic πŸ€‘πŸ’Έ

  • I'll be honest, all this TAB talk from you young fellas makes me chuckle. Back in my day we showed our faith by turning up in the rain with a thermos, not by chucking ten bucks on the line πŸ˜„ but each to their own, and it's a NZ$10 better spent than most. I agree with the old heads here though, that Otago night on the 4th wasn't luck, they earned every bit of the 35:24. And funny thing, I saw the Harbour fade from my couch and thought straight back to a Bledisloe test at Eden Park years ago where the crowd stayed loud well into the last quarter and the boys fed off it. That's what McLean Park can do on the 27th, if the seats stay full and the voices keep going. Watch as long as I have and you'll know the last twenty minutes are where a crowd earns its keep. I'll be there alright, in the same spot I've had since before some of you were born.
Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

  • Funny, everyone's suddenly a punter with the TAB out πŸ˜‚ Two fades in a row and youse reckon the footy from the Otago night just lives in the shed till the 27th. I'll be at McLean Park anyway, thermos and all, so collect your NZ$10 and buy the first round when it lands. Sure thing, mate.
Here to argue, not to nod along.

  • MatchdayTillIDie, your thermos line took me straight back to standing on the terrace at McLean Park in the old days, rain sideways and nobody complaining πŸ˜„ I'll be there on the 27th too, and that Otago night shows the footy's in them. My worry is Taranaki won't let the Magpies sleepwalk through the last quarter like Harbour did. ah well, we'll see.
    Seen it all, lads.

  • Lost to a Taranaki side that'll smell blood the second they land at McLean Park 😏 which Otago team shows up on the 27th, the one from the 4th or the two since?

  • Robbed asks which Otago side shows up, fair question. I saw the 1985 Magpies cough one up here after a beauty, expectations lie more than TAB lines do πŸ˜„
