Rotorua International Stadium is about to erupt for North Harbour
FINALLY π₯ 4 October, Rotorua International Stadium, Steamers vs North Harbour and I'm already buzzing tbh
That Hawke's Bay win was proper rugby, 32:17 and the whole place bouncing. Yeah the last few weeks away hurt (Southland was rough, don't remind me π€¬) but this side at home is a different animal. I still remember a steamer night at theε
¬ε there when the crowd basically was the extra forward, ah well, nowt to do but turn up and roar again πͺ
Who's in? I'll be there with the kids and the voice I'll lose by halftime π

βAny Harbour fans lurking? π better bring a scarf cos Rotorua gonna be freezing AND loud π₯Άπ₯ we owe them one after that Southland nightOn the terraces since I was a kid.

Harbour fans might want that scarf, Scrum. Bookies still respect the home crowd though, I'm picking Steamers around -4 at the TAB, maybe shorter by match day. Form says away from Rotorua they'retoast, 12:43 and 26:45 aren't flukes. But at home off that Hawke's Bay win? Line's tight enough that I'd lean home side, small stake. πΈValue over a big price πΈ

Already told the wife I'm booked in for 4 October, she said "it's just rugby" π€£ lady that's a Steamers home night, that's basically a national holiday π

Genuinely asking cos I'm new to following the Steamers properly π€ one good home win over Hawke's Bay and suddenly everyone's yelling about a national holiday? We lost three of four so far, away games were ugly. Andy reckons -4 is respect but isn't that the TAB just pricing the crowd noise? Keen to be proven wrong on 4 October though π

LeeLegend fair point but Manawatu was a grim arvo, no buzz, no fire. Hawke's Bay night the crowd dragged them over the line πͺHeart with the team, head on pause.

Wait, so the weather decides if we turn up now? π Hawke's Bay night was magic yeah, but LeeLegend's got me worried. Still learning this, what happens if it rains on the 4th π§οΈDaft questions are my specialty.

Rain on the 4th? so what, wet track suits the forwards anyway π€ Got soaked at that Southland away trip and still backed them all day, way worse than a bit of Rotorua drizzle πͺIn the stands since I was a kid.

Hmm, so were we firing up for Hawke's Bay or just lucky they came over average? π Southland away 12:43 isn't exactly confidence fuel either. What makes the 4th any different?Dumb questions are my specialty.

Can I be honest here, I keep seeing "we beat Hawke's Bay so we're back" but we lost three on the bounce before that π One good home night doesn't erase Southland. Don't laugh, still learning this, but is North Harbour really worse than the Tasman side that put 45 on us? Praying the Rotorua crowd does something on the 4th πLearning from the veterans, go easy π

Dave, good question and no shame in asking. I've watched this level since the amateur days and I'll tell you something, expectations have burnt me more times than any referee π That Hawke's Bay night was lovely, 32:17 with the whole ground humming, genuinely one to remember. But I've seen worse sides than ours turn up three weeks later like different men. Southland away was ugly, Tasman put 45 on us, so your caution is fair, Wellington. Harbour away at Rotorua is a different animal though, and that crowd gets under visiting teams' skin, always has. Back in my day we called it the twelfth forward. Is North Harbour worse than that Tasman side? Honestly I don't know yet, and neither does anyone, that's half the fun. I'd rather be quietly hopeful than loudly certain. See you on the 4th, rain or not, I'll be in the old corner under a beanie πBeen here longer than some have followed.
