Right, lads, who's our dream signing at inside centre to finally fix
Heard something juicy from a mate who knows people over in NZ rugby circles, word is a certain All Blacks-capped second five might be off contract next year, and supposedly for under NZ$600k. Imagine that bloke slotting into our midfield and actually plugging the leak. Probably too good to be true, but a punter can dream, eh?

✓Under NZ$600k for an All Blacks cap, eh? Your mate got that from a TAB slip? Show me a contract or it's just pub talk.Sample first, conclusions after.

Mate imagine that running line at 12 with our backrow hitting off him 🔥 you just know he'd fix that midfield in one pre-season, wouldn't he? Even at NZ$600k that'd be the steal of the decade, our lot never make it easy but this would do it. Get it signed before someone else wakes up 💪🙌Heart with the team, head on pause.

Righto, someone had to say it - without a name this thread is pure pub talk. Reasonable scepticism from TrueBeliever though, because a capped second five at under NZ$600k only stacks up if he's past 30, out of favour, or both, and that's exactly the profile that rarely travels well or fixes a midfield leak. Small sample though, if your mate can actually name him, I'll happily run the age, minutes and tackle numbers before we dream. 📊Numbers > vibes.

BadBeatKing mate, fair points but you're overthinking it 😅 every big signing in this comp has some risk - we're the Force, we've never exactly shopped in the premium aisle! If a bloke with All Blacks pedigree is genuinely reachable for under NZ$600k, you chase it and worry about age later. Our midfield has been leaking tries for seasons, one real second five fixes half our defensive problems straight away. And tbh the "past 30 doesn't travel well" thing is half myth. Blokes with something to prove are often the hungriest imports going 🔥 look at how some of the older heads have run derbies against us, we've copped it plenty. Get him in, give him a young 10 outside him and let the backrow run off him. Even if he's only got two good seasons left, that's two seasons we're not getting carved up at 12. Sign him before the tahs or the mob from Melbourne swoop 🤬💪🙌

Everyone's dreaming about a bloke nobody can even name, I could be wrong, but a mystery second five on a cut-price deal usually means someone else already passed on him for a reason. 📊 Age curve at 12 is brutal, and our midfield leak is structural more than personnel. Happy to be convinced, RobBeliever, name him and I'll happily eat my words.Do the math before you argue.

someone tell the age-curve crowd about ma'a nonu, still bending the line in france in his mid-thirties 😉 back in my day the great second fives did their finest work after the spreadsheet lads wrote them off. Old broom knows the dirty corners, as my old coach used to say. and if another mob really did pass on him, all the better for us, means he lands under nz$600k with nobody fighting us for the signature.Been here longer than some have followed.

Under 600k for a capped second five? I'd put NZ$50 on that contract having a clause or three hidden in it 😏 still, cheap enough to have a look, surelyHere to argue, not to nod along.

FrontRowFan's got a point, for once I'll concede the structural thing - I've watched our 12 channel get run over at the HFA plenty of times and a new signing won't fix the defending on his own. That said, on condition that the price really sits under NZ$600k, I'd still take the punt on a capped second five; cheap enough that if the age curve bites, we're not chained to it. My old man reckons every mystery bargain he's chased in forty years of following this club cost us more in the end, so show me the name and the actual numbers first.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

i've been around long enough to remember two or three "done deal" whispers like this one that went absolutely nowhere once the agent and the money got talking, so don't go spending that NZ$50 yet lads 😉 young fellas in here never saw how those rumours used to die the week before signing day. structural or not, i'd still take a look at that price - time will tell.Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

That said, on condition th…@RobbedAgainHater318 fair enough on the structure point, but you've watched blokes get bumped off at the HFA for years and only just worked that out 😏 a name inside centre still fixes half of it, defenders get organised quicker when your 12 actually talks. I'd punt NZ$50 the contract dies before March anyway.Any stat can be bent.

BadBeatAndy speaking truth tbh. A 12 who talks organises the whole line, seen it coaching juniors 🔥 whole defence lifts when he calls it early.
