Right, be honest. Who's our dream signing at first five-eighth for
Word drifting out of the sheds is a certain All Black playmaker could be off contract come 2026, say no more, eh π bloke in blue at Eden Park feeding our wings cut-outs all arvo, I'd empty the wallet for that. Anyone else heard the same whisper or am I just dreaming out loud? And in reality, what's our actual chance of pulling it off?

β"Yeah nah" as a source? I've heard that whisper a dozen times since about 2019. Who's actually quoting whom here - the player's manager, NZR, or your mate's cousin at the sheds? Not convinced until someone names the bloke and shows a contract date.

Even if it's just shed talk, imagine those cut-outs to our wings π₯π₯ we haven't had a true fly half boss the game in years. Empty the wallet I reckon! πͺYou don't abandon your own.

GloryDays has a point about the sourcing, but let's run the logic on it anyway. A current All Black first five coming off contract in 2026 would trigger a proper bidding war. NZR will throw everything at keeping him in the black jersey, and even if he walked, he'd be looking at overseas money we simply can't match. Our realistic path to a marquee ten is more likely a developing NPC playmaker or a recycled Pro Rugby bloke wanting a homecoming. There's a nuance here too: even if the whisper were true, would he actually pick us over the Chiefs or the Crusaders? Depends how you count it, but I'd put the odds somewhere around me winning Lotto. Stoked as I'd be to see those cut-outs flying, I'd rather the club spend that wallet on a proper forwards coach and two props.Numbers > vibes.

Coached juniors up the road from Eden Park for years and I reckon whoever this bloke is, even the whisper alone means NZR gotta lock him down first π GloryDays is right that shed talk is 90% hot air, but if there's even a sniff of a proper All Black 10 on the market, I say we go all in, no half measures πͺ our lot never make it easy so why not dream big π₯One love, one side β€οΈ

I could be wrong, but I keep my tables on this stuff and shed talk has a terrible hit rate π Every "off contract" whisper since 2019 has ended with NZR locking the bloke down within a month. until someone names the player and shows a date, BadBeatKing's bidding war is built on air. Dream all you like, but plan for the backup options too.Do the math before you argue.

FrontRowFan, your tables might be right since 2019 but I've watched as long as I have and you'll get it, I remember when everyone swore Dan Carter would be a Crusader for life, and the country nearly fell over when the rumour mill had him moving. Shed talk is hot air nine times out of ten, sure. The tenth time is the one that wins you a title though π Seen worse whispers turn real than this one, believe me. All I'd say is if the board sits on their hands waiting for a named player and a date in writing, some other mob will already have the cheque signed. Patience is a virtue but in contract season it's a luxury, eh πSeen it all, trust me.

Half of you are debating a bloke nobody's even named π I'd put NZ$50 at the TAB on him being locked up before the season kicks off. Sure thing, mate.

FrontRowFan, mostly with you here. Shed talk is basically a rumour with better PR. One caveat though: if a name and date do surface, I'll happily eat my words. I sat through the 2023 season holding a half-done multi that died with our 10 going off injured in round six, so I'd rather we chased a real answer than another whisper. Show me the numbers first.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

FrontRowFan's got my backing on this one π― Remember when everyone "knew" our captain was off to Japan and nothing happened? Same vibes now tbh. No name, no date, no signing π€· ah well, nowt to do but keep the fingers crossed eh π΅On the terraces since I was a kid.

ah, the shed rumour, an old friend of mine π back in my day we had the same whispers about a certain goving legend supposedly heading north, everyone had him in another jersey by kick-off and come round one he ran out same as always. seen worse rumours die quicker too. the TAB punter might well be right and he's signed before pre-season - or the whole thing drifts off like the autumn fog over the harbour. time will tell, it always does. till then i'll keep me expectations loose and me fingers crossed π΅Been here longer than some have followed.

Chased that shed rumour myself last year, put NZ$20 on the signing at short odds and it never landed. Lesson learned, no name no bet. That said, if a quality first five does show up I'll take the odd try scorer market all day π₯
