i remember back in the day when the old grandstand fair shook, magpies v the visiting lot, north stand bloke wore most of his beer down his front and still cheered louder than anyone 😄 cold as buggery that arvo too but no one moved. nothing beats mclean park on a day like that, keen to hear your fellas' favourites.

chips on the hill, JackFan, that takes me back 😄 mine was an afternoon against Poverty Bay sometime in the eighties. Rain coming sideways off the sea, bloke near us in the old wooden stand had his thermos going and didn't care a jot. every time the magpies drove the maul the whole stand creaked like it was going to get up and play itself. you never forget a ground that talks back to you, eh. my old man reckoned McLean Park in winter was worth two at any flash city stadium, and he'd seen worse grounds than most. hope the kids these days get to feel that roar properly once, not just on a telly 😉Seen it all, lads.

Gisborne lad here but McLean Park on a frosty arvo gets me every time 🔥 remember my old man taking me over for a Ranfurly Shield defence, whole place felt like it was breathing together, bloke in front spilt his whole tray when we scored and just raised his arms like nothing happened 😂 nothing matches that noise, eh. ah well, nowt to do 🖤💛You don't abandon your own.
