came for a nose around tbh, heard good things about the vibe here. How are you lot travelling?
Word of warning though. That nor'wester blowing across Napier coming off the sea breeze, takes some handling eh, coaching kids down my patch we lose kicking duels to the crossbar half the time π± And yeah whoever solves tackling in proper firm conditions first wins the arm wrestle imo πͺ Also gotta ask cos everyone goes on about it: is that famous cheap-as pies stand real?? π₯§π₯ Fire night under lights would go alright actually. Enjoy her fellas π

Lol Ultra you're a menace, making the steamers fella shout the pies π€£ $8 is still decent value though tbh, I've copped worse from the food truck outside. And nah the wind's no excuse lads, I coach the juniors and even they hit harder than some of our boys in dry weather π± Fix the tackling and I'll shout the whole stand a round π₯On the terraces since I was a kid.

$8 is hard to beat, the food truck one cost me nearly double and tasted like cardboard π don't laugh but I only learnt recently the nor'wester's why half the kicks go sideways. Been going to McLean Park with my old man for years and never clocked it π€£ cheers for the welcome Millie, steamers mob seem alright!Daft questions are my specialty.

Gramps mate, you've cracked the code late but at least you cracked it π stood on the western side back in my day and watched the nor'wester turn a perfectly good dropping goal into a pass to nobody. Old school skill was kicking low into that wind. Eight bucks is still the honest bargain at the park though, seen worse pies at Eden Park for double, no joke πWatch as long as I have and you'll get it.

OldSchool's wind story reminded me of my first game at McLean Park, watched a kick sort of die mid-air and just slide sideways, had no idea what was going on until someone next to me explained the nor'wester π so Gramps you're not alone there. Agree the $8 pie is decent value, though my caveat is I always end up buying two because one never survives the injury time nerves π€ does anyone know if they do the same flavour every week or does it rotate? Asking so I can plan my NZ$ accordingly π

funny thing is the old grandstand shelter blocks that wind on the eastern side - sat there once and the kicks flew straight for a change π ah well, we'll seeSeen it all, lads.

aye mike, eastern side's the go, though back in my day we just reckoned a cold pie and good company beat perfect kicking π pull up a seat mate.Been here longer than some have followed.
