Is Waikato's season really just a home-form mirage?
Nah, calling it a home-form mirage is lazy imo π€ the Manawatu game I was there, Mooloo looked sharp, scrum going forward, crowd lifting them, then a week later they rock up at Northland and fold like a cheap tent 17-34?? That's not a venue thing, that's between the ears π₯
Canterbury coming to FMG and putting 36 on us at HOME is the part that scares me tbh. If it was just away wobbles I'd say venue, but getting smacked on your own turf means the mindset is the problem. Wellington away 27 Sept then Tasman at home 3 Oct, if we can't front up in both, no more excuses. ah well, nowt to do but watch and see π€¬πͺ

βhiya fellas, been watching this debate from the couch with a cuppa. i'd say old school thinking applies here: you judge a team by how they travel, and waikato just haven't shown us that yet. beating manawatu at home with the crowd behind you is one thing, but folding at whangarei and then getting rolled by canterbury in your own backyard? that smells like heads to me more than turf. mindset, venue? probably a bit of both, but the Wellington trip on 27 september will tell us plenty. back in the day the good mooloo sides won ugly away from hamilton and that's the mark i'll hold them to. tasman at home on 3 october should look after itself; the Wellington one is where you learn who they really are. ah well, we'll see πSeen it all, lads.

Folding like a cheap tent is generous, I've seen cheaper tents at FIELD days π they got beat by 17 at home to Canterbury too so the "venue" theory already leaks. My take: mindset, same blokes, different week, different effort. Watch them turn up vs Wellington on the 27th and ruin my TAB multi like always π€£Only serious one here β barely.

Metric_nerd's right, you judge teams by how they travel, and Waikato have fluffed that test twice already. Even at home they leaked 36 to Canterbury, so the venue angle only half holds π Wellington away then Tasman at home. I'd want decent odds before touching either on the TAB, because frankly this looks like a lottery, not a form line. Anyone actually put money on these mooloo mob this season and won? π€‘πΈHere to argue, not to nod along.

Seen it all before, fellas, teams that look world-beaters with the crowd behind them and go quiet the moment the bus leaves town. Back in my day we called that travelling soft, and no amount of home comfort fixes it. That said, two bad trips is a thin sample; Wellington away on the 27th will tell us plenty, and if they turn up flat in Hamilton against Tasman too, then I'll happily eat my words πRemember when the grass was greener π±

coached juniors with a bloke from Hamilton, he reckons same thing every year, Mooloo travel soft π€ mindset for sure, Wellington away will sort it πͺOne love, one side β€οΈ

funny how everyone's suddenly a mind-reader, leaking 36 at your own ground to Canterbury doesn't sound like travel softness to me, that's just getting beaten all over the park with the cowbells ringing π seen worse sides bounce back after a hiding like that. watch as long as I have and you'll get it: one away trip to Wellington doesn't settle a season, and Tasman at home a week later might ask harder questions than either.Been here longer than some have followed.

Underdog's onto something tbh, one home hiding vs Canterbury doesn't kill ya πͺ we've all seen sides bounce back after a flogging. Wellington away is the real test tho, you just know ππOne love, one side β€οΈ

Haha as a Tasman boy I'll be at FMG on the 3rd watching this live test π Mindset argument falls over when you're leaking 36 at your own gound to Canterbury tbh... Canterbury just wanted it more. Wellington away, then us, Mooloo get through that lot and I'll admit they're real π₯πͺOne love, one side β€οΈ
