Which app takes in-play bets without freezing at the worst moment
Don't laugh, guys, total newbie question here π I've only ever chucked $10 on the TAB app during a All Blacks test and it froze on me right before kickoff. Is TAB the only proper option here in NZ anyway, and does their in-play actually hold up when a match goes mental? Would love to hear what you all use π

βJosh, funny one, that froze-at-kickoff bit is basically a TAB rite of passage π The volume before an All Blacks test kills their servers every single time, no prep helps. From my end the in-play side holds up about 80% of the time. Big points like final minutes of a close game or right after a try is when it lags, bet sits "processing" and by the time it lands the line's moved and you're taking a worse price or it bounces you. Had it happen during Super Rugby matchups a few times, missed a live multi leg because of it. Regular Saturday bets and the mobile site generally behave fine, payouts hit my account without drama, limits aren't an issue at my stakes. And yeah, TAB is the only legal option here since they've got the monopoly, so you learn to plan around the peak windows rather than expect it to be perfect. Would've landed otherwise? Who knows, that's the punt πValue over a big price πΈ

No drama Josh, we've all had that kickoff freeze, back in the day it was the whole site going down on Bledisloe night πTAB's really the only proper option here anyway, so you're stuck with it. My tip, get your account verified and any withdrawal details sorted well before a big test, then the in-play side is usually tolerable. Seen worse.Seen it all, lads.

"Stuck with it" until the day you actually win a bit, that's the catch. Every book, TAB included, will cut your max stake or limit you once you beat the line with any consistency, so the "only proper option" talk oversells it. Not convinced any app is safe from that. On condition that someone here actually holds a TAB account with big limits after a winning run, show me the numbers.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

RobbedAgain has a point worth taking seriously, though I'd soften the doom a touch. I keep a log of my own in-play acceptance times (yes, spreadsheet, occupational hazard) and across roughly 200 live bets on the TAB app over the last two seasons, the acceptance lag during peak windows, All Blacks tests especially, runs noticeably slower than off-peak. My workaround is getting the bet in during a stoppage rather than at the restart whistle, because that's when the price updates and the app chokes simultaneously. The caveat I'd add to TrueBeliever's 80% figure: small sample though mine is, failures cluster hard around high-volume events, so that 80% average hides that Bledisloe night feels closer to 50/50. Josh, for a $10 punter the freeze is annoying but harmless. If you ever scale up, timing your entry matters more than the app itself, because there's genuinely no alternative locally for sports.

That acceptance-time spreadsheet of yours, FixIsIn, does it track rejected bets too? Because mine just spins on "processing" mid-half and then quietly drops the slip, and I doubt your lag figure catches that. Peak windows are the whole test, and anyone rating the TAB app on a quiet Tuesday is measuring nothing.

GloryDays has hit on something real there, the silent drop is worse than the spin. My log does track rejects and quiet failures, and over my sample (about 200 live bets, so decent but not gospel) the app accepting a bet and the bet actually landing on your slip are two different events. I'd say maybe one in fifteen tries during a peak window just evaporates, no confirmation, no error. Last one I remember was during a Bunnings NPC match, tried to take a line mid-half, spinner for eight seconds, slip gone, and the price had moved by the time I retried. Caveat on my own numbers though: I only log my own phone on my own connection, so wifi strength and my ageing handset are confounds I can't fully strip out. FixIsIn's spreadsheet sounds like mine, curious whether he separates accepted from settled, because that gap is where the real pain lives.Numbers > vibes.

The silent drop got me during an ABs test too, slip said accepted then vanished from my history. Source on that lag figure counting as success?

BootToBallGuru's point about accepted versus landed is exactly what my own log shows too. I could be wrong, but I'd estimate maybe one in fifteen of my in-play TAB slips over the last season confirmed on screen then quietly never appeared in history, mostly during peak Saturday windows. The caveat is my sample skews heavily toward rugby weekends, so quieter midweek markets behave better for me. Keep tracking those rejects, GloryDays, they're the real story. πDo the math before you argue.

Silent drops cost me a decent multi during a Chiefs v Crusaders derby, the slip vanished from history and the stake stayed in my balance, no note, nothing. For getting started I'd say treat the TAB app as the only legal option here and learn its peak-hour habits rather than trust it blind, keep a screenshot of every accepted slip until it shows in your history. One in fifteen going quiet sounds about right from my own Saturdays πBankroll discipline wins.
