Still get chills watching that 2015 final haka
i remember that october morning well, kettle on before dawn and the whole street quiet as a church. back in the day we'd have killed for a World Cup, then Richie goes and lifts it twice running. still gets me right in the chest watching that haka at Twickenham. ah well, we'll see if anything ever tops it 😉

what a morning that was. i was watching with my old man at his place in dunedin, same couch where we'd watched the 87 final when i was a kid. he'd been waiting nearly thirty years to see it again and there he was, quietly wiping his eyes when the whistle went, pretending he had something in his eye 😄 and that haka before kickoff, full house at twickers and eighty thousand poms gone dead silent... watch as long as i have and you'll get it, but i don't think i've felt anything like it sitting in a lounge. richie lifting that cup a second time, done. nothing's topping it for me either.Been here longer than some have followed.

Word going round the corridors down here is the sorting out happening behind closed doors goes deeper than anyone's letting on, and I'm not just talking selections 🤫 But that calm you mention, you can't coach it. Fella I know who's been around the set-up years reckons the current crop have got the talent, just nobody's grabbed the room by the throat like Richie did. funny thing is I've watched that final three or four times since and the haka still puts a lump in my throat every time. back in my day we reckoned 87 would be a once-in-a-lifetime thing, then Richie goes and backs it up four years later, calm as anything, like he was picking up the shopping 😄 this young side will get there, good things take time eh.Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

Though I'll grant you the calm part; half the reason 2015 worked was Richie standing there like a man waiting for a bus while everyone else lost their heads. And yes, nothing tops that morning. My lot were crowded around the telly in Kilbirnie and nobody spoke for a full minute after the whistle, just grinning like idiots. The haka at Twickenham with the whole stadium on its feet. Chills every time, no shame in admitting it. Beats me how you can watch it three or four times and still feel it, but FixIsInBeliever680 is dead right there. That calm cost me a fortune in 2015, I had the Aussies with the start in a TAB multi and Richie just strolled through it like it was a warm-up 😭 Worth every dollar lost just to see him raise it again though.
