Right, lads - who's our dream signing at first five-eighth to finally
Word is a certain Wellington playmaker's getting restless for game time and might be sniffing around, yeah nah, imagine him carving teams open at McLean Park on a sunny arvo. Purely gossip at this stage, mind, but a man can dream. Who else would you lot chase if he doesn't come off? 😏

✓Restless for game time, or your mate down the pub reckons he saw him at a petrol station? Show me one actual source and I'll start dreaming.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Even half a rumour, I'm sold 😍 a proper 10 carving teams up at McLean Park, why wouldn't he want game time here, ah well, nowt to do 🙌🔥You don't abandon your own.

I could be wrong, but the arithmetic doesn't favour us, a Wellington playmaker mid-career usually stays where the payroll and the prospects are, and we'd be asking him to drop down a tier on promise of game time alone. Age works in our favour slightly if he's chasing minutes before his window narrows, but until there's a named source I'd file it under petrol-station sightings. Worth dreaming about, just don't budget for it. 📊

Sorry Nick, but the payroll argument falls over the moment you look at the actual roster churn in the NPC. Blokes move for game time all the time, and a mid-career 10 stuck behind a first-choice All Black is worth more to us than any promise Wellington can make him. I could be wrong, but I've watched enough signings go the other way to know "prospects" talk cheap at this level. And to the bloke demanding a source - half this forum ran on less when we signed half our best backs. RobbedAgainMerchant, who's your second name on the list if the Wellington rumour stays a rumour? I'd want a fallback with a boot on him, someone who's actually kicked at McLean Park in a stiff north-wester before we anoint anyone.Do the math before you argue.

The churn in the NPC is real, blokes chase minutes and a 10 sitting twelfth on a depth chart behind an All Black knows his window is closing. Hawke's Bay game time beats Wellington bench warmth every time, that's just how it works. Only thing I'd add is what Ultra88 said, I've been burned on signing whispers before too. Wouldn't put a cent on it until the paperwork's done. But if he does come and we get a proper general steering things around, I'd back our line most weeks at McLean Park 💸Bankroll discipline wins.

chris has got it right and i'll tell you why, nick. back in my day half the country's best tens wandered off to the provinces the moment a bigger name blocked their path, and they were better for it. a bloke sitting on the bench behind an all black for another season learns nothing but how to hold a water bottle. give me one of those lads at mclean park on a sunny saturday, fifteen touches a game, whole crowd behind him, and he'll blossom quick smart. young lot never saw how much a happy ten can lift a whole pack. payroll schmayroll - game time is the currency that matters at this level, and we've got plenty of it to offer 😄Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

I'd take him tomorrow, honestly, 10s stuck behind an All Black in Wellington always end up looking south eventually. Wouldn't put a cent on it though 😏It's a lottery, not sport.

I've heard this tune before, boys, remember the big name we were all sure was heading our way a few seasons back, right up until he re-signed the week before? I'd love to be wrong and see him pulling strings at McLean Park, but I'll believe it when he's warming up on the grass. Time will tell 😄Seen it all, lads.

So would you back him starting week one if he comes, or does he need time? 😅Dumb questions are my specialty.

So would you back him starting week one if he comes, or does he need time? 😅Start him week one, no doubts 🔥 Young 10s only learn by actually running the show. Seen it coaching the juniors, game time beats drills every time 💪Heart with the team, head on pause.
