North Harbour
i remember it like yesterday, mate, me and a couple of the boys trucked up fromRotorua way back in '94, crammed in at Albany with the whole Shore. when that final whistle went and the Shield was ours the noise was something else, grown men crying in the rows around us 😄 worst ears ringing of my life and i'd do it all again tomorrow.

Was only a young fella but Dad took me up to Albany that night 🔥 One of the boys carried me on his shoulders when the whistle went. Grown men bawling everywhere, you just know we'll never top it 💪🙌

  • that night me and the wife were still courting, took her along thinking it'd be a quiet evening out 😄 by fulltime she'd lost her voice along with half the Shore. the young lot never saw that - 30-odd thousand shaking a suburban ground like it was Eden Park itself. still gives me goosebumps thinking about it 😉

  • Funny reading these memories alongside what the current side serves up most weeks, the '94 boys had that edge where you genuinely believed every week, and I'd say we're still a fair step off that standard, though there are signs the young blokes are building something. Hard to compare eras fairly, small sample though, but nothing this decade has come close to Albany shaking like that. 📊

  • Fair shout BadBeatKing, but I reckon the young fellas will earn their own Albany night one day. Memories like '94 can't be measured anyway 😄

  • Legend says my uncle drank enough at Albany that night to fill the Shield twice 🤣 still reckons he carried half of Takapuna on his shoulders. Hold my pint, someone rename a pub after '94 already 😂🍿
    Memes are analysis too.

  • Wasn't there for '94 but my old man drove a few Shore boys home that night, reckoned they'd have paid double the fare and sung the whole way 😄 What got me about that era is you could feel it before kickoff, the ground had a bit of noise in it already. Now you turn up and the bookies can't even get a proper line on us some weeks because nobody knows which team walks out. Still, I'd take a fiver on these young blokes giving Albany a night to remember inside a couple of seasons. When it lands it'll pay better than anything I've backed all year 🍺

@FirstFive15 the noise in the ground before kickoff, spot on. My source reckons something similar is brewing with these young fellas. You know the rest 😏🤫
