Because watching from the terraces feels a lot like confirmation bias. One bad kick in the wind and suddenly he's never played ten.

GloryDays, I actually logged it — and Supporter_Fan's count matches mine from the couch. Since round five there are more intercept throws at ten than clean box kicks in my spreadsheet, and the Crusaders game is the clincher: the wind picked up and every long ball went toseed. There's a nuance here though, and I'll say it before someone else does: that's a small sample, five or six matches, so don't hang him for it. Still, the pattern fits what I'd expect. At 15 the wind can't humiliate you the way it does on touchline clearing kicks, and Beauden's running game from the back is worth more to us than a frazzled ten getting rushed every ruck. For me it's 15 all day, with Harry at ten and the bench covering. Love the bloke either way 🔵

Ha, this wind debate takes me back, Eden Park nights in the amateur era when every first five who copped a southerly just hoisted it high and let the forwards chase, none of these cross-field spear throws. Beauden's a lovely footballer, always has been, but back in my day a 15 read the weather better than anyone on the park, and that's where he earned hisambitions in the first place. Shift him back, keep him safe from the gale, and let the young fellas cop the wind at ten. They'll learn from it like we did 😉Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Jess has a point buried in there somewhere, but one windy night at the Park isn't the whole story. I've watched this bloke since he was chucking it about for Taranaki, and the intercepts have been creeping in for weeks now, not just since the Crusaders rolled through. Back in my day a first five who kept feeding the enemy got shifted, no drama about it. 15 suits him fine and the kids can keep their jerseys 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

UnderdogNightmare is on the money, I've got the same feeling watching from the stands, those intercept throws started creeping in well before the Crusaders turned up. The wind game just made it obvious. I'll concede he's a world-class 15, on condition that someone shows me the numbers proving he reads first five defence better now than he did in 2020. I could be wrong, but for me the wind night was just the confirmation, and I'd add one caveat: moving him to 15 only works if the coaches actually commit to it, none of this swap-him-back-after-two-weeks carry-on.Do the math before you argue.

ChrisDiehard387's spreadsheet lines up with what I've scribbled down too, the risky pass rate was climbing well before that Southerly at the Park, so the wind only exposed a habit, it didn't create one. Where I'd hedge, though, is whether 15 actually fixes it: counter-attack is where he's still electric, but he'll still have ball in hand and a punt to make in space. Worth trialling for a few rounds before anyone declares this settled, I could be wrong either way.Do the math before you argue.
