Right, lads. Who's our next flying winger?
Word is a certain Hurricanes speedster's been having a quiet look around once his contract's up at season's end, and apparently we're in the mix π€‘ nothing confirmed mind, could all be hot air. But imagine that bloke burning down the wing in red and black, I'd put a cheeky NZ$20 on it happening before the TAB would π anyone heard similar?

βSounds good, but "my cousin heard" is not a source. Show me the numbers β name the player, name the contract. Otherwise I'll believe it when he's in red and black at training.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

Imagine him flying down the wing at AMI Stadium π₯π₯ we'd tear the Aussie derbies apart, no defence would hold. Get it done lads πYou don't abandon your own.

I could be wrong, but my gut says the maths are against it, a Hurricanes winger with pace like that is usually first-choice and on decent NZR money, so why would he slot behind our current depth chart for less game time? Age matters too; if he's on the wrong side of 25 the Crusaders rarely pay a premium for someone else's developed asset. I'd put this one in the "cousin down the pub" basket until a name and contract date surface πDo the math before you argue.

Chris, the maths work if he's stuck behind the Hurricanes' depth chart and wants game time. Big names have come south for exactly that. Small sample though, one cousin's a shonky source πNumbers > vibes.

Seen bigger jumps than that, boys - remember back in the day when folk said no Cantabrian stalwart would ever leave, and they did? π ah well, we'll seeSeen it all, lads.

SeenItAllFaithful, love the energy but AMI's a bit of a graveyard comparison to bring up here π realistically the bloke wouldn't be coming down to warm a bench either. If there's smoke on this, it's because our back three picture changes after season's end anyway, retirements and contracts etc, so the "no room in the depth chart" argument from Chris is weaker than he reckons. Razors love a finisher with pace off the bench too, that's half our try-scoring model. Also just quietly, half the thread's acting like a cousin's word is nothing, then quoting their own mate's hairdresser as gospel π I've put a lazy NZ$20 on it happening at the TAB purely for the laugh, mind you.

BadBeatKing's got it right for once - blokes have come south for game time before, and I'd back it happening again. My caveat: a cousin in Wellington is barely a source, I've heard three different "done deals" this month from the same city. My old flatmate used to swear every All Black was signing for us by November, and I'm still waiting on about five of them.

My caveat: a cousin in Wellington is barely a source, I've heard three different "done deals" this monthβ¦@GloryDays_4Life fair caveat, though I'd nudge the sample the other way slightly. Yes, the Wellington rumour mill pumps out three "done deals" a month, but historically the blokes who actually shift south for game time are the ones stuck behind two or three incumbents, and the profile fits here. Small sample warning though, I'd put the hit rate on these cousin whispers at well under one in four, so nobody should budget a jersey just yet. My own rule of thumb after years of tracking this sort of thing: I only start believing a rumour when a second independent source shows up, and the player's agent goes quiet instead of shopping him around in the media. Until then it's just noise, however tidy the logic behind it looks πNumbers > vibes.

Nah I'd take him in a heartbeat tbh π₯ bloke stuck behind their depth chart comes here and learns from our backs? dream scenario, sign me up πͺIn the stands since I was a kid.

heard the cousin rumour this arvo and had a wee chuckle to myself π glorydays is onto something though, i've lost count of the "done deals" that were angeblich locked in over the years and then quietly died the week before the announcement. back in the day we all knew a certain big-name five-eighth was coming south, it was in every paper, and next thing he re-signed up north and we all pretended we never believed it anyway. so i'll believe it when the bloke's holding a red and black jersey at the presser, not before. still, if it does land, learning off our backline would be worth the price of admission alone. time will tell, young fellas, it usually does πSeen it all, lads.

@Ultra88 ha yeah nah the "done deal" graveyard is huge aye π remember believing one a few seasons back and telling the whole junior training group, looked like a mug come announcement day. Still, dream scenario alright, bloke learning off our backline... I'd be buzzing if it lands π₯Heart with the team, head on pause.
