From the axe in 2017 to full houses in Perth
i remember when the axe fell in 2017, mates, watched the news come through from my couch and thought that was the last we'd hear of the force. back in my day you learned to cop the hard calls on the chin, but the boys in blue did something better, they came back swinging. that night at HBF Park, down 14 and the western stands roaring like an old Bledisloe night, still gives me goosebumps 😄 nobody gave us a chance and look at us now, full houses and all.

✓Was on the tools that arvo when the news broke, nearly threw my hammer through the ute window 🔥 Choked up proper at HBF Park when the crowd dragged them back. Through thick and thin, mates 💪🙌You don't abandon your own.

Funny how a memory sticks, eh. I was up at my daughter's place in Perth that winter, visiting the grandkids, and she dragged me along to HBF Park half expecting me to sulk about NZ rugby politics all night. Fourteen points down and the old bloke beside me grabbed my arm like we'd known each other forty years, and by the last ten minutes I'm on my feet yelling with the best of them, blue scarf my granddaughter bought me wrapped round my neck 😄 Back in the day you'd cop a cut team and that was that, no comeback story to tell the grandkids. These boys gave us one. Good on every soul who kept the faith through the lean years. Ah well, we'll see what next season brings, but I reckon the worst is well behind us 😉Seen it all, lads.

I was slinging pints the night that news broke and had to cut a bloke off mid-sob story because we were both too busy mourning the Force to serve 😂 Anyway, fast forward to that comeback at HBF Park, I reckon half my regulars went home hoarse and the other half cried into their beers, great night either way. Knew I should've framed my old scarf, would've made a fortune from the sentimental punters by now 🤣Hold my pint.
