Canterbury
i remember those wild runs in the early 2000s, just the sheer noise when the old terraces were packed out at Lancaster Park. that mud in the ranfurly shield defence, the way everyone felt like one giant scrum together, that’s the stuff that sticks with ya. it was never really about the table, just that incredible pride and sense of being cantabrian, ah well, we'll see.

  • the mud was thick, yeah, but that deafening roar from the terraces? that was the real trophy.

  • Was on the hill that day too, Gary, voice gone by halftime 😂 Thing is, comparing then and now, the 2008 pack ground you down slowly while this lot win it with speed in the backs. Different brands, same red-and-black heart. Mind you, small sample on the new boys so far, let's see them hold a Shield defence in the mud before we crown them.
    Numbers > vibes.
