Be honest, lads, this season's Chiefs look better without our

Hate to say it lads, but the young fella at 12 has made us look quicker off first receiver than the old head managed all season. I said it after the Crusaders match and got roasted for it 😏. Veteran worship is lovely until the TAB has the young centre picking better lines every week. Sure thing, mate 🤡💸

Quicker off first receiver against who, though? Soft run of fixtures flatters the young fella, receipts please before you bench the veteran.
    Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

  • Bah, soft fixtures?? We hammered the Crusaders' line pace and it showed 🔥 the young fella EARNED that 12 jersey, deal with it 💪

  • Paul_Fan has a point buried in there, mind you, my running sheet has the young fella's line-break numbers up against the Crusaders specifically, and that was the only genuinely elite defence in the run so far, so the sample's thin. But attacking shape off first receiver looks structurally cleaner, not just flattered, and I'd back the jersey staying his even when the draw hardens. 📊
    Numbers > vibes.

  • Reminds me of when we eased older blokes out at the Chiefs and panicked for a month, then wondered why we'd waited so long. Thin sample or no, the kid's earned a look. 😉

Been here longer than some have followed.

  • BootToBallGuru has it about right, I could be wrong but a single elite-defence data point is a shaky foundation for benching anyone. The Crusaders showing was genuinely promising off first receiver, yet the fixtures either side haven't tested the young fella's decision-making under real pressure. My running sheet stays open for two more rounds before I call it.

  • Funny how everyone calling the fixtures soft took the young fella at 12 to beat that Crusaders line pace 🤡 form, deal with it 😏
Show me your ROI first 😏

  • StatHead one elite defence in a thin run proves nothing yet 😏 keep the veteran fit and handy... form's real but fixtures haven't tested the kid tbh 🏉
Heart with the team, head on pause.

  • seen worse arguments than stathead's, but not many 😄 one good night against the Crusaders and suddenly the old head's redundant? ah well, we'll see

    Seen it all, lads.

  • StatHead, define "deal with it" for me. One tidy night against the Crusaders and the veteran's supposedly obsolete? What I actually saw was the young fella getting clean front-foot ball all evening, which hides a lot of decision-making questions the Canes and Brumbies will ask soon enough. I'd keep the old head in the squad and judge this after a proper away trip, thanks.

  • GloryDays_4Life pretty much nailed it - clean front-foot ball flatters any midfielder, and I'd wager a few of us would've looked tidy at 12 behind that sort of platform. Small sample though. One strong outing against the Crusaders' line tells you something, but until he's asked to make decisions on the back foot against the Canes and Brumbies, I'm keeping my own spreadsheet columns half-filled 📊. For what it's worth, I've tracked the attacking shape since round one, and there is a genuine difference in how the ball moves off first receiver now, faster hands, wider spacing. There's a nuance here: that could be the young fella as much as the fixtures. Form or soft run? Ask me again after the Canberra trip, not before.

  • FixIsInPTSD talking sense for once 😏 same punters reckoned the Crusaders game proved everything too. Canes away will sort the kid out quick smart.

  • FixIsInPTSD said it properly - front-foot ball makes anyone look tidy. I could be wrong, but the sample is two matches, and the Canes away will tell us far more about the kid at 12 than the Crusaders night ever did. My table stays open on this one, lads, because neither side has proven their case yet. 📊
