Right, big fella hunt time. Word is a certain 2.05m giant off contract in Christchurch might fancy a change of scenery, and I'd chuck my TAB winnings on that pairing with Vaa'i being something special. Imagine that lineout at FMG Stadium Waikato, mate. Reckon we could actually pull it off?

We've needed a proper enforcer back there since Brodie's shadow, and a fade from the boys up in Christchurch happens more than Paul thinks 😏 make it happen,zus 🔥💪In the stands since I was a kid.

Paul's got a point about receipts, but the logic stacks up more than most rumours. Bloke that size is typically 28 to 30 by the time a contract runs off, which is prime lock age really, you're mostly lineout calling and set-piece work by then, not raw athletics. Clubs don't usually let a 2.05m second rower walk unless the salary cap squeeze in Christchurch forces it, and we know their depth chart is ridiculous, always has been. The catch for me is Vaa'i is a left-side jumper and most tall locks are too, so the pairing needs a genuine caller or the lineout gets messy no matter how many metres tall anyone is. Sample size warning on my own tracking here, I've only logged two seasons of lineout data properly, so take the jumper split with a grain of salt. Would be mean if it landed though.

seen worse rumours come through this place and bloke, most of them died on the vine. but fixis has got it about right, a lock that age is exactly when the set-piece brain peaks, watch as long as I have and you'll get it. back in my day the tall fellas only got better once they stopped trying to run round people. my worry is the other end of it. why would christchurch let him walk if he's still their best jumper? either there's an injury history nobody's talking about, or the wallet down there is fatter than ours. Paul's right to want receipts. I'd love to be wrong and see him lining out beside Vaa'i at Waikato, but I'll keep my TAB money in my pocket till someone shows a signature 😄Been here longer than some have followed.

Every rumour thread needs a Paul to rain on it 😏 in reality? the Crusaders have been bleeding locks for a while now, plenty have wandered north when the contract talks drag. And that lineout next to Vaa'i would be an absolute freak show, two skyscrapers and nobody else getting a clean throw contested. I'd put actual NZ$ on it happening, and unlike Jack I don't bet imaginary TAB winnings 🤡 what's the odds on you lot admitting I called it first come signing day, anyone fancy that multi?Here to argue, not to nod along.

RobbedAgain's got a fair point about locks heading north, though I'd want a source before anyone books flights to Hamilton. FixIsIn is right that 28 to 30 is peak set-piece age, but who pays for that on our cap while Vaa'i's own deal comes up? I'll believe it when I see him at training at Ruakura, not before.Sample first, conclusions after.
