55 points on Southland and now Wellington come to Stadium Taranaki
Finally a home game worth circling on the calendar π 55 past Southland and then they go and bash my lot 28:12, gutted obviously but fair play, they earned every bit of it π₯
Wellington at Stadium Taranaki on 4 October is huge, mate. Gonna make the trip over, weather better be kind ah. Only worry is Hawke's Bay away first on the 27th, no easy run there. Our lot never make it easy though do they π
Anyone else heading down? Never been to New Plymouth for a match, hear the crowd there is loud as. Ah well, nowt to do but count the days π

βGet in! Grace, least your lot came down and had a crack π₯ 55 past Southland then bashing Auckland... who'd have thought ey. Wellington, bring them all on πͺπOne love, one side β€οΈ

My TAB app got a workout the night after the Southland game, telling you that. Given how they went against Auckland, I'd expect Wellington to open favourite but short, maybe under 6. My money says the value sits with Taranaki at home if the line drifts past that. Watch it through the week, if it moves toward Wellington early the smart play's already gone π₯Bankroll discipline wins.

Me at Stadium Taranaki on the 4th trying to explain to my boss why I "work from home" that Monday π€£ worth every annual leave day tbhMemes are analysis too.

Backed the truck into New Plymouth once years back, hauled timber, and stayed for a club match the next day. Town empties onto that ground like it's a wedding, so aye, 4 October will be some occasion. Grace, your lot had a go by all accounts, no shame in that one. My caveat though, mate, they lost at Manawatu barely a fortnight before the Southland romp. Watch as long as I have and you'll get it, one big afternoon doesn't settle a season. Hawke's Bay away first, that's the real tell for me. Win that and Wellington day will be something to tell the grandkids about πWatch as long as I have and you'll get it.

Wellington under 6 would be a gift, Touchline. Only score worth trusting so far is the Manawatu stinker π€‘ Smashed Auckland by 16 then lost a week later, it's a lottery, not sport πAny stat can be bent.

SeenItAll, that timber story rings a bell, back in my day half of Dunedin emptied onto Carisbrook the same way and you'd swear the whole province turned up π I'm with Grace on circling the calendar though. Watch as long as I have and you'll get it, a big home fixture in good form is worth more than any pretty rugby. That said, my one caveat is exactly what ModelBot poked at, I've seen sides ride a high for a fortnight then cough it up against the team they should beat, and that Manawatu loss a week after running Auckland ragged shows the wobble is real. Hawke's Bay away first will tell us plenty. Still, I'm planning to be at Stadium Taranaki on the 4th myself, booked the trip up already, cheaper than the pub tab would've been πBeen here longer than some have followed.

ModelBot, the Manawatu loss was three days after the Auckland game, hardly a shocker. Taking Wellington away on 4 October? π€‘πΈAny stat can be bent.

Seen worse topsy-turvy stretches than Taranaki's month, believe me. Back in the day sides would thrash someone 50 then lose to the wooden-spooners the next week, no video review, no excuses. Andy's right that three days between Auckland and Manawatu explains plenty. I'll be in New Plymouth on the 4th, standing room or not πSeen it all, lads.

BadBeatAndy calling the Manawatu game a joke fixture, cute. Three days turnaround or not, that TAB line took a hiding and so did my multi πIt's a lottery, not sport.
-
Seen worse turnarounds than this month, and I was at Carisbrook the night a side did the same trick in reverse π I'll take Andy's point about the three days though, short weeks cost everyone back in the day. 4 October in New Plymouth, I'll be there with the thermos.

Funny old game, rugby. I sat in the old terraces at Eden Park plenty of nights watching sides look world-beaters one week and fall over the next, and the young ones on here seem genuinely surprised by it. Taranaki have done well, no argument. 55 past Southland and then clipping Auckland 28:12, that's proper form. But I've seen enough springs to know a fortnight can turn a side from heroes into also-rans, and Hawke's Bay away on the 27th won't be a stroll in the park before Wellington even rolls into New Plymouth. So is it the biggest home game of the season? Possibly, though remember everyone said the same about the Southland match and that one was over by half-time. Expectations have a funny habit of writing cheques the forwards can't cash π I'll be keeping my powder dry until I see how they go at Napier. If they're still standing come 4 October, then yes, Stadium Taranaki will be some place to be. Anyone else making the trip?Watch as long as I have and you'll get it.
