Time to raid the neighbours
Righto lads, word drifting round is that an Auckland loosie off contract in June might be looking across the bridge... imagine that sort of pace and mongrel charging out of the tunnel at North Harbour Stadium in our colours. No names from me yet, just saying keep your ears open. Who else we fancy for the blindside spot if that falls through?

✓Word drifting round from where, exactly? I'll believe an Auckland loosie crosses the bridge when he's holding the jersey up, mate.Numbers are honest, takes aren't.

If he's even half keen in June we should be throwing the kitchen sink at him 🔥 our back row needs that mongrel big time, remember what happened when anyone ran straight at us last season... yeah, pain 😱 imagine him and a proper openside together, scrum time would be war 💪 believe when I see the jersey pic tbh, ah well, nowt to do but dream eh 🙌You don't abandon your own.

I'd temper the hope a bit, lads. A loosie off contract in June is usually either chasing more minutes or chasing money, and unless our budget's suddenly grown arms and legs, we're probably not winning that auction. If he's mid-twenties and stuck behind two All Blacks in the Auckland pecking order, then yeah, the logic stacks up and it'd be mean to land him, but if he's starting every week over there, why would he walk? As always with these rumours, the sample size is one unnamed bloke and zero sources, so I'll believe it when Gramps is printing the jersey.Numbers > vibes.

I've seen worse signings happen when a bloke just wants a fresh start, mate. Money isn't everything, ask anyone who's shifted towns for a new beginning 😉Been here longer than some have followed.

BootToBallGuru's got a point, but I'd add this: has anyone actually checked whether the Auckland club even wants to keep him? I work with a bloke whose cousin does strength and conditioning up there, and the chatter all season has been that the coach is picking him out of loyalty rather than preference. If that's true, minutes are the currency here, not NZ dollars. That said, colour me skeptical until I see his name on a press release. Remember the prop we were all convinced was coming two winters back? Spent the whole summer arguing about our scrum feeds and he signed elsewhere before Christmas. Fresh start stories are lovely, but contracts get signed for reasons, and "wants a change" rarely survives contact with a better offer. I'll believe it when he's holding the jersey.

Seen this sort of rumour before, lads. Remember the halfback we were all sure was coming over from Wellington a few seasons back? Ticked every box until he re-signed a week later. A contract in June means nothing till the ink's dry, ah well, we'll see 😉Seen it all, lads.
