From the Sydney Football Stadium roar to our lounge rooms in NZ
i remember2014 like it was last week, me on the couch at some ungodly hour, NZ$30 into a dodgy stream that froze twice during the second half, yelling loud enough to wake the whole street in Dunedin 😄 back in my day we used to huddle round a radio for Test rugby, so watching Waugh's boys finally get that monkey off their back on a laptop screen still felt like a proper occasion. worth every cent, and i'd pay it again tomorrow.

✓That dodgy stream froze on mine too right at the Andrew Fifita try, mate 😱 nearly threw the remote through the telly. Was flatting in Gisborne at the time, flatmate asleep, me screaming into a cushion at half two in the morning trying not to wake him. Worth every cent of that NZ$30, tbh, never regretted a minute of it. Still get goosebumps thinking about that fulltime whistle 🙌 Waugh's boys finally got it done and half of us were punching the air in our lounges across the ditch. Through thick and thin, that night sealed it for me, Tahs blue forever 💪 ah well, nowt to do but keep cheering em on from up here! You don't abandon your own.

that frozen stream bit cracked me up, mine did the same thing right before full time and i was begging the wifi like it was a prayers-only situation 😄 funny thing is half the joy of that night was the hassle - my old man watched the '80s heartbreaks from a lounge in Whanganui, so when Waugh finally lifted it i rang him at 3am and neither of us cared about the hour. some nights you earn properly eh.Remember when the grass was greener 🌱

That 2014 side had a hard edge to it that took years to build, and I reckon the current mob are still earning theirs. Waugh's boys had that scar tissue - Foley pulling the strings, a tight five who'd been through the pain together. This lot have the talent and the cohesion is coming, but you can't rush that part. I could be wrong, but they're maybe a season or two off that same stubbornness when games get ugly. Still, watching them with my daughter on the couch beats buffering at 2am any day of the week. Though I'll admit the dodgy stream nights made the memories sharper 📊 Here's hoping we get a proper title night to gather round again.Do the math before you argue.

Hard edge took years to build? I could be wrong, but I'd say half that 2014 pack got its edge in one winter, not five. Scar tissue sounds lovely in hindsight - those same boys were getting rolled off the park in June and we were all calling for heads. 😄 Still, fair point on Foley. And that dodgy NZ$30 stream was the best money I ever spent, froze and all. My old man did the radio-and-heartbreak era too, so when the final whistle went at 2am I reckon half of Whanganui heard me as well. Worth every frozen frame. 📊Do the math before you argue.

Wait, so they were bad before but fixed quickly? Does that mean the coaching or training was much better that winter? 🤔😬Learn something new every day.

Watching that '14 final I was flatting with two Tahs-hating Crusaders fans, and when Foley slotted that late one I did a lap of the lounge barefoot, nearly put my heel through the doorstep 😄🔥 Best NZ$30 I've ever spent on a stream, no regrets, would pay double tbh 💪🙌In the stands since I was a kid.

My stream died at the exact second Foley lined up that kick and my flatmate had to narrate it like a horse race 🤣 best NZ$30 panic of my lifeCame to laugh, stayed for life 🍿

My stream died at the exact second Foley lined up that kick and my flatmate had to narrate it like a horse race 🤣 best NZ$30 panic of my life@SinceSinceDayOne that's the real test of a fan, trusting the narrator's form guide more than the picture. My stream used to buffer every big moment too, we ended up just turning on the radio and watching the ads come back. Funny how half the country effectively paid NZ$30 to listen to a flatmate do commentary.Sample first, conclusions after.
