Anyone else had the book slash their max stake after a few good weeks?
Don't laugh guys, still learning this π
so the whole idea is the bookie quietly drops your max stake to like NZ$20 on props and corners once you're actually winning? I only ever bet small through TAB but I'd heard the line stays open for ages while the fun markets get shut down first π€ So if I signed up somewhere else, how quick does that cap usually hit. Weeks, months? And are the smaller books even safe with payouts, or do some of them dodge paying out wins? cheers for any advice π

βYep Nick, that's the deal, hit a good run on player props and the bookie quietly drops you to NZ$20 while match odds stay open, they don't tell you either, you find out when the stake won't go through π Corners and specials get capped first because that's where the sharp money lands; head-to-head they'll leave alone for ages. Withdrawals were fine through it, so at least the payout side held up πΈBankroll discipline wins.

aye nick, no laughing here, we all started somewhere. touchline's got it right, same thing happened to me years back after a good run on player props, stakes quietly shrank to pocket change while the head-to-head stuff stayed wide open, and you only find out when the bet bounces. the old boys I knew down here used to say a bookie will always find the winners eventually, and it shows in the withdrawal queue too, they'll want your ID sorted before anything lands. ah well, we'll see πSeen it all, lads.

Metric_nerd's description matches what I've seen, only I'd drop the surprise factor entirely - expect it as standard. Every book, the bookie included, trims winning punters down to NZ$10β20 on props, corners and player specials first, because that's where the mispriced lines live; head-to-head lasts longer since the market there is tighter. I'll believe any bookie "values" a winning customer when I see one that doesn't cap them. Plan your stakes around the fact that the props window closes fast.Sample first, conclusions after.

fixisin's got the right of it β expect it before it happens. back in my day the local agency bloke just told you to your face you were on the short list, no mystery. these days with the bookie you only find out at the stake button. what i'd add: the caps bite hardest right after a winning month, so timing tells you they're watching the profit column, plain and simple πBeen here longer than some have followed.

Maybe I'm wrong but is it really the winning that triggers it? Could just be big prop stakes π€ anyone tested after a cold run?

Lucy_Blues582 has a point actually. My worst two months last season still saw the props cap stay put, but the moment I landed three multis in a row it dropped to NZ$20 same week. Pattern seems to be wins, not volume. For anyone starting out: expect the props/corners squeeze early, keep the head-to-head stakes modest, and treat the props account as a bonus window that closes fast. πΈValue over a big price πΈ
